Instructions
Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes or until the onions are translucent.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 additional minute until fragrant.
Pour in the crushed tomatoes and add the tomato paste. Stir to combine everything well.
Add the dried oregano, dried basil, red pepper flakes (if using), and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Once the sauce has thickened to your preferred consistency, stir in the balsamic vinegar for added depth of flavor.
Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before using it with freshly cooked ravioli.
Before serving, garnish with fresh basil leaves and serve with grated Parmesan on top.
Notes
Add red pepper flakes for extra heat if desired.
